Wind Blown But So Very Happy Fishing With Friends
Yesterday was a day of fishing fun like I haven’t had in a lot of years.
Casey emailed Jamie and myself on Monday to see if we wanted to go to French Lake for a day of pickerel and perch fishing. I said NO immediately, NOT.
I’ve been waiting for a day when the three of us would get out together as I have had so much fun fishing with both Casey and Jamie, just not together.
Well I wasn’t disappoint as I would say I just had the best day of fishing and the most fun all in one day, one really long, hot and windy day.
We were on French Lake at about 8am while the water was picture perfect calm.

French Lake, New Brunswick Early Morning Calm
We trolled to the first spot where we would start hitting the weeds while the water was calm and Casey caught a couple of pickerel and a fat ole perch on the way there.
Casey was using a Rapala jointed lure that was really good at attracting pickerel and perch both. It seemed like he could call them to his lure over what Jamie and I used.
Those of us that didn’t come equipped with Rapala lures didn’t seem to get much action on the trolling.
If my memory is still intact after all that hot sun beating down on my head all day he caught 2 yellow perch and two pickerel before we reach the first weed bed.
On the way back to where we launched the boat Jamie and I had a little better luck trolling and caught a few perch but of course Casey had to be the one to hook into another pickerel.
I was so impressed with how hard the yellow perch hit, every single time I thought I had a pickerel on, great fun.
