A friend I took fishing a few years ago caught a 26" pickerel as his first ever pickerel. I have heard that there are larger pickerel but I haven't seen one in 30 years. Not sure if they get as big. Large fish around here go between 40 and 50 inches. But oddly enough we have a fish called pickeral/walleye here. Smaller than pike though.
