Bamboo, fiberglass and graphite are just some of the materials that fly fishing rods might be made of. Just like any the participants in any growing pastime, the fly fishermen are constantly looking for the best equipment, so manufacturers continually try to improve their fly fishing rods.

Novices looking for their ideal fly rod may find the vast array of available equipment mind-boggling. A beginner’s fishing rod should ideally be low priced as this will allow them to find out if fly fishing is right for them without spending a lot of money, while those who are more experienced and wish to compete should choose rods that are more expensive and will give a better performance. These rods tend to be a little on the stiff side and rather strong. The quality of the graphite fly rods that you choose will determine its strength. Most fly fisherman prefer the graphite rods to the fiberglass rods since they are more sensitive and stronger than the fiberglass rods are.

Since the graphite fly rods are stronger giving the fly fisherman added support it is a good choice for the beginner. If you ask an experienced fly fisherman they will gladly give pointers on deciding which of the fly rods available are best suited for your use dependent upon your skill level.

For those who are experienced fisherman and those who are just begninning to show intersest in the sport, fiberglass fly fishing rods come in a wide variety of strong flexible material. Despite the flexibility of the fiberglass of the fly fishing rods, their weight (a product of their durability) makes them less appealing to many fishermen.
