It’s getting really close guys and gals, New Brunswick fishing season opens in just 4 days. I was sitting here this morning, like so many other mornings, wishing I was out fishing. Some great days of fishing comes to mind.

It’s kind of funny but I never seem to remember days I was fishing alone. I always have a much better experience when a friend is fishing with me. Yet I don’t like to fish in groups.

The first time I went to Florida I gave off shore fishing, leaving from Fort Lauderdale, a try. It was certainly a fun day of catching fish I had never seen before. It was so much fun I wished I had someone with me to share the experience, but I didn’t. I was the only fisherman in our group so the others did something else that day.

A few years later I was work and started getting pains in my lower abdomen and went home sick. The next day it was so bad I went to the doctor, who immediately sent me to the hospital as my appendix was about to burst and that’s not a good thing.

Well I had a couple of weeks off work to recover so I talked my brother Bob into driving us to Florida. A much better place to recover than the winter weather in Toronto.

It was Christmas and we had never experienced a Christmas away from home.

After a few days I was able to get around pretty good and I suggested we go off shore fishing. He had heard about it about a hundred times since I returned from my last trip. He wasn’t able to go that time.

I am one that is always on time and usually early but Bob could be a bit of pokey ass so of course we were late and the boat had just left the dock.

The guy at the office called and told them they had two more and to pull close to the pier.

We hoped in our car and headed down the pier until we saw that boat.  Parked the car ahead of it and started running. All the people, who were eager to fish, were yelling at us to get our butts on board.

They didn’t stop the boat, they just came close to the pier and we both ran and jumped on board. It was very exciting and we were on our way.

That was many years ago, long before I ever moved to New Brunswick and I have been here for 30 years now. But the memory is as clear as the day we went out fishing.

We caught a lot of fish, drank a lot of beer and eat a lot of food. I caught a lot of sand sharks. They can fight like they 4 or 5 times bigger than they are.

One person caught a turtle, another caught a bird but for the most part we all caught fish and had a lot of fun.

Some day I will do the same thing with my son Steve. Up to this point in his life we have only gone to Florida to hit the amusement parks and rides.

The colder it gets here in New Brunswick the more memories of fishing in Florida rush into my mind screaming to take me south. I just have to plan a Florida fishing trip for next winter. I just have to remember to get my passport this year as we no longer can use our license to get into the U.S. from Canada.

I went south with my brother a couple of times and did some off shore fishing. That was great fun but since then I have gotten kind of addicted to bass fishing, but I have never hooked a largemouth so that’ s what the goal is for my Florida fishing getaway for next year.

I think I will contact a few bass fishing in Florida web site owners and see if we can work out something so I can fish a few great largemouth spots andmaybe even a few places to stay that aren’t to expensive.

The more money I can save on accommodations the more I can spend on my fishing desires, err I mean fishing needs. I have simple needs really and just want to fish.

Seriously though the plan is to fish Florida for largemouth bass. I am even willing to camp to save money so that I would be able to go sooner. I say camping but one year my wife, son and I had planned to camp in Florida to save money but found that the hotel right next door to the camp ground was $5.00 cheaper and they had a complete kitchenette as well. So if that happens again I will not be camping.

Okay, that’s it for now, back to day dreaming about Florida and warmer weather.

I Love Fishing in USA

Source: FlickrFishing as a sport and recreational activity is very popular in the United States as well as Canada where I live.

Fishing has been a traditional hobby of the Americans as well as tourists in the USA. The Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, including the many streams of water across the country offer greater opportunities for Salt water fishing.

United States has so many rivers, lakes and inland streams for fresh water adventures that you could never fish them in just one lifetime.

Fishing in the US of A is very diverse because of the fish migrating every season. The weather, however, is one factor that restrains people from fishing. Rain, fog, snow, and wind affect the fishermen since these conditions may sometimes be dangerous to them. One of the great things about nasty weather fishing, not too much competition for the best fishing spots.

Since the fish are diverse, fishermen have a lot of fishing techniques depending on the type of fish they are targeting. They can do surf fishing, fly fishing, bait casting, pier fishing and many other techniques.

Florida for example, is one state that has long been famous for fishing and has to be my favorite location for big bass and bonefish. Everywhere in Florida you see a lot of men and women of different ages getting excited about fishing. You see them holding fishing lines in bridges, causeways, riverbanks and piers.

Also, Charter fishing boats are popular in all coasts of Florida.

Florida is known for its saltwater fishing and fly fishing. You need to be versatile to get the most out of Florida’s fly fishing adventures. Fly fishing and saltwater fishing are your choices depending on the time of the year.

There are abundant Redfish in Daytona Beach, Titusville and St. John’s River. Spotted Sea Trout are also found in Florida. You can find a local guide in the area and they will be able to help you enjoy your fishing experience.

Florida has been a hot place for fishing especially during the start of October. There are large numbers of Redfish until mid morning. There are a lot of Snooks being caught. During the afternoon when the temperature is high, there are a large numbers of jacks, ladyfish and trout that keep the fishermen in action.

Americans and tourists have a variety of reason why they fish in the U.S.A. Some love to see the sunrise and sunset in the water. Besides fishing, some love to watch dolphins, whales and birds. But still it is the catching of fish that really thrill them. Fishing in the U.S.A is a meaningful pastime whether in groups or all alone. The money you will spend is worth the fun and excitement including building relationships.
